Is It A Genuine or Scam Message? – Its Manda or Amanda, we matched on PlentyOfFish, Hinge or Tndr

Have you recently got the following types of text messages in the name of Manda or Amanda? 

• “Heya are you NAME? Its Manda, we matched on plentyoffish before when I came to come see my aunt but we didn’t meet 4 lunch,, im back in the area right now if u wanted to actually go out this time, are you available?”
• “hi are u NAME? im Manda, we matched on Hinge last time I came down to hang with my aunt but we didn’t meet for coffee, I’m back in town again if ya wanted 2 really go out while I’m here, r u available?”
• “Hey is this NAME? this is Amanda,, we matched on tndr last time I came to chill with my aunt but we never met 4 coffee. I’m back in town rn if u still want 2 actually go out this time, are u available?”

If you have got messages similar to the above examples, then you should know those are phishing messages send with the intention to scam you. That’s why you should not click any link provided on such messages (if provided any), or download anything from such messages, or call the number provided on such messages, or reply to such messages, or follow any instruction provided on such messages.

You may also get slightly different kinds of messages but if those messages look similar to the above example, then definitely you should delete those messages.

The main motive of these kinds of fraudulent messages is to steal your personal information which they will try to do in the following ways:

• By asking or tricking you to reply to them or call them back. If you respond to them, then they will trick you to submit your personal details.
• By tricking you to submit your credentials on the clone sites that look exactly similar to the renowned legit sites but with different domain names.
• By asking you to click the malicious link provided on the message which can hack your device.
• so on.

Now you may be thinking about what they will do with your personal information, right? Well, they can sell that to third parties and make money out of that. If they got your credit card information or other payment processor details, they can directly steal your money.

Now you know that text messages such as “Its Manda or Amanda, we matched on PlentyOfFish, Hinge or Tndr last time when I came to come see my aunt but we didn’t meet, I’m back now if u wanted to go out this time” are nothing other than fake messages.
